Works:

Jennifer Berkowitz is a Los Angeles-based figurative painter exploring cycles of birth, decay, and renewal. Her work reflects the human condition through vulnerable subjects, expressive mark-making, and psychological intensity. Jennifer recently relocated to Los Angeles from San Francisco where she was represented by the SFMOMA Gallery and exhibited at the de Young Museum. She received her BFA in painting from UC Berkeley, and worked for many years creating and directing motion graphics for television and film, and teaching the subject at UCLA, before turning to painting full-time. Her love of movement and time-based arts has fueled her varied career, and brought her many awards.

Jennifer’s recent series of paintings, “FLESH,” tears the female body apart and recombines it into new modes of legibility and sense. The result is a visceral examination of identity, transformation, and aging.
