Vivien Ebright Chung (b. 1980, Santa Cruz, CA) is a Los Angeles-based artist whose practice is rooted in the physical and emotional complexities of the human experience. A graduate of California College of the Arts, San Francisco, where she studied both painting and fashion, Ebright Chung’s work reflects a deep fascination with the body—clothed and unclothed—and its symbolic and narrative potential. Her lush, sensual brushwork and rich color palette navigate themes of desire, intellect, spirituality, and the raw contradictions that define human nature. Drawing inspiration from art history, literature, personal experience, motherhood, and friendship, her figurative paintings are tender, vulnerable explorations of joy and sorrow.
Her recent exhibitions include the solo show Verdant Arcadia at Trophy Room LA (2024), as well as group shows such as Fetish at BOZOMAG (2025), Mythology Matriarchy at The Middle Room (2025), Mired In Bloom at Speedy Gallery (2024), and Just Like Heaven at Random Access Gallery in Syracuse, NY (2024). Her work has also been featured in exhibitions at SADE Gallery, Gallery Mariposa, Transport Gallery, Quarters Gallery, and Smoke The Moon in Santa Fe.
